I received my first Pay by Check for an account at Family Tree Guide. Great! Now I get to do all the boring stuff that I’ve been putting off… like getting a business license so that I can open a bank account so that I have someplace to actually deposit this check… :-(

Normally, most people choose to pay by credit card, or when they do choose to pay by check, they never actually send it to me…

Judy, my online partner, and I have purchased the website:

Digital Camera Vault: Something good for all your digital camera needs.

Judy and I have purchased a variety of websites since September… some cost only $20, one cost $3,000… Most, however, cost between $50-$300. DigitalCameraVault cost us $135… Here’s a run down of what I saw in the site:

Page Rank - Page Rank for a non Googler is probably mute, but in simple terms, page rank is a score between 0-10 that Google gives pages online. The actual method that Google used to generate this score can be found in the Google patent application online. One caveat, that method has certainly changed since the patent was released, and probably resembles very little of the original filing.

The page rank for this website was 4… importantly however, the internal pages were also ranked…. While this ads some value to the website, the fact that most pages appeared in the supplemental results, reduced the value of this website in my eyes.

AWS Shopping System - Based on the freekai script. We have two other websites at this time using the same script, and have had relative success at achieving direct sales from search engine referred visitors. This is/was the sites sole sorce of income.

Content Availability - I have rights to 20 articles written and devoted to digital photography. Judy and I were going to develop a website anyway with this content, so why not use one that is already indexed, and has an AWS system to boot???

Our plans for the website are to first, have our 20 digital photography articles rewritten… improve the design somewhat of the site (it’s plain for a photography related site), and add additional revenue sources…

I’ll keep everyone posted as we advance the website…

I watched the movie Serenity last night. Based on the cult show The Firefly, this movie was produced by Joss Whedon (Buffy the Vampire Slayer,) and included the cast from the TV show. I found it entertaining and amusing at points, but lacking the high quality graphical imagry now expected in todays Science Fiction movies. The outtakes should have warranted the DVD be rated R, as the language of the cast is atrocious. So be careful of those words if you watch this on DVD.

If you’re a Joss Whedon fan, then you’ve already seen this movie. Other fans of sci-fi flicks may want to pick up a copy and give the movie a whirl.

A website devoted to me, may at the outset seem superficial, but I hope as it progresses you find it unique, tasteful, and enlightening.

I have many personal reasons for the development of a blog; if anything, to keep my thoughts straight. In the hectic realm of today, I often find myself stretched to the limits on time and energy, and in a constant state of being scatter-brained. Too many thought processes running through what little brain I have, and no system by which to organize them. This blog, I hope, shall become the system which enables me to bring structure to my work, and vision to my life. It’ll also provide me an outlet to rant, something you’ll find, I like to do.

If you’re a web entrepreneur like myself, visit often, you’ll find a wealth of real material for your use.

If you’re friend or family, and wonder what I really do with all that time I spend online, you may get some real ideas here. And hopefully, none of them get me in any trouble…

So pour yourself a cup of coffee and enjoy… If you have something you’ll like to contribute, you can always do so using the comments on every post.
